Battles in the Deeps; Part Seven - Dwarf Warriors with Cloaks

For this batch of Dwarf Warriors, I decided to sculpt some cloaks on them. They're a bit rough, but overall I'm pleased with how they turned out.

Shagrat

Finished my Shagrat for the One Ring Painting Challenge - I've just updated the pictures (I should take more downstairs). The last shot is to try and show you what the base looks like.

Mordor Orc Banner Bearer

My Mordor Orc Banner, I picked up on impulse a few months ago. I finally painted him up, and decided to use the Witch-King of Angmar's Crown as the design for the free hand. I still need to do a bit of work to the banner, but for now it's done. (For some reason the fourth picture came out very blue, but I've edited the picture, although it is still slightly blue.)

Battles in the Deeps; Part Six - First Underground Lake

My second piece of Moria terrain, an underground lake. I made it from a Rider of Rohan box, flocked the outside and then painted on the water, which was then gloss varnished (I don't have water effects). I basecoated the water with Caliban Green, washed the shallow/outside areas with The Fang, and washed the deep/inside areas with Rhinox Hide.

Gildor Inglorion

My third High Elf hero, Gildor Inglorion. The hair on this model was a pain to paint, as the paint kept coming off.

Battles in the Deeps; Part Five - Iron Guard

Here are my 8 Finecast Iron Guard for my Dwarf army, one was slightly defective (part of his helmet and left arm were missing, about a third of a centimetre wide, but I fixed it with Green Stuff). They're painted in the same way as my other Dwarves.

Elrond and High Elves

'The face of Elrond was ageless, neither old nor young, though in it was written the memory of many things both glad and sorrowful. His hair was dark as the shadows of twilight, and upon it was set a circlet of silver; his eyes were grey as a clear evening, and in them was a light like the light of the stars.'

Here we have my Finecast Elrond model, and my re-based High Elves. I did not notice the Mold line in Elrond's face whilst painting him, as it is only visible from certain angles.

Battles in the Deep; Part Four - First Dwarf Mine Working

Here is my first piece of Moria terrain, inspired by Feanor's Dwarf Mines on TLA (and only my second terrain piece, the first being a small set of ruins). The main frame is made from spare pieces of sprue, glued together, with Green Stuff wrapped around the different pieces to look like rope. The wooden boards were made from pieces of card, strengthen with PVA glue, and the ladders were made from wooden skewers, cut down to the right size; the ladders and boards are detachable.
Everything was then painted with Rhinox Hide, and a wood grain pattern was painted on the ladders and main structure with Steel Legion Drab, with the wooden being washed with Steel Legion Drab instead. Six models can fit comfortably on the mine working, with two on the top layer, and four on the bottom; I hope to make many more of these.

Battles in the Deeps; Part Three - Durburz and Goblins

'A huge orc-chieftain, almost man-high, clad in black mail from head to foot, leaped into the chamber, behind him his followers clustered in the doorway.'

The third batch of 12 Goblins, and my first hero, Durburz, are now complete. This batch of Goblins have a slightly darker skin tone to the original 16, to allow for some variety in the Goblin hordes.
